Human Evolution

Our generation lives at a time of environmental catastrophe, mass consumerism, religious conflict, war, terrorism, etc.. We label these things as unnatural and blame ourselves for our impending doom. But let’s not forget that we are human, and are a product of evolution ourselves. We are the first little piece of earth that has become aware of its own consciousness. These events are a product of conscious beings unconsciously acting out the process of evolution. We are selfish because selfishness has proven to play an important role in the process of evolution. However, with our level of consciousness and intellect, we now have the power to act out evolution ourselves. The insects and birds aren’t contemplating their existence (at least to my knowledge..), they’re just existing! Humans have the unique ability to question our existence and our greater purpose in the universe. So I ask, what is the goal of evolution? A higher consciousness? Realization of our true nature? It seemingly has gone in this direction.. and now has created a vessel through which it decides it’s own fate, through billions of little pieces working together. To transcend these global issues we must make a drastic change and work with each other rather than fend for ourselves. Life has evolved to the point that it has a choice in its fate. So let us work together in love and acceptance of one another. Only together can we perform a miracle!
